Skippers opened its first store in 1994 in Commercial Road, Pietermaritzburg. This store is still in operation today and remains a flagship Skippers store. The Skippers franchise concept caters for the seafood lover specialising in fish and chips prepared the traditional British way, right down to the newsprint packaging, mushy peas and mash.

About the Franchise

The objective of the Skippers concept is not only to serve value for money line products, such as hake and chips, but also to make more exotic seafood available, such as prawns, calamari, seafood curries and fresh line fish. As with any true skipper, quality and flavour are of utmost importance and, in keeping with the Mochachos tradition, Skippers portions are larger than our competitors.

Healthier options include grilled kingklip, hake fillets, fresh line fish and snoek, and a large variety of fresh salads are also served. The Skippers brand is wholly owned by the Mochachos Franchise Group. The head office operations team takes pride in its hands on interface with franchisees to guarantee that the store reaches its maximum operational potential.
