Woolies Forecourts get Competition

In another forecourt/fuel station brand collaboration, Famous Brands and Total are testing a new forecourt grocer that analysts say could rival Engen’s Woolworths offering. What brand could possibly do that? High-end Illovo grocer, Thrupps.

In an environment of increasing competitiveness, with Spar teaming up with Shell, Pick n Pay with BP, Woolworths with Engen, and Freshstop and Caltex, Famous Brands plans to convert some of Total’s Bonjour shops and expand its Mugg & Bean forecourts to include high-end Thrupps.

Famous Brands CEO Kevin Hedderwick says that provided the trail store at Senderwood is successful: “There is potential to roll out Thrupps to at least 50 other Total sites.”
