The World’s a Doughnut

US doughnut company Dunkin Donuts has struck a deal to open more than 1 400 locations in China over the next 20 years.

There are currently only 16 units presently operating in China, that’s growth of over 8 000%.

Parent company Dunkin’ Brands Group, which also owns Baskin Robbins, has entered into a master franchise agreement with Golden Cup, a joint venture between two international companies that are a premier restaurant operator and the largest quick-service concept in the Philippines.

In a separate deal, Dunkin’ Donuts has also signed agreements to open more than 100 locations in Mexico with a different company. And with the current footprint sitting at more than 11 100 locations, the move will put it close behind the heels of Starbucks which had more than 19 700 locations around the world by the end of 2014.
