Here’s a breakdown of sectors with active franchising from The South African Franchise Market survey published in the third quarter of 2013, commissioned by The Franchise Association of SA (FASA) in collaboration with Sanlam, and conducted by Research IQ.


South African Franchising at a Glance

South Africa has a thriving franchise sector with over 660 concepts operating in around 12 sectors. It’s a far cry from the gargantuan scale of the US’s franchise industry, but it’s contributing in excess of R302 billion (9,7%) to GDP annually and providing jobs to more than 300 000 people.
