In a recent survey conducted by Millward Brown, using their proprietary advertising system, Adtrack, it’s been revealed that Spur Steak Ranches produced the best-liked TV commercial for 2012. The survey evaluated 1 500 ads and evaluated the impact and liking amongst the South African public.
Respondents were recruited for the survey from SA’s major metropolitan areas, based on strict demographic quotas to ensure a nationally representative TV viewing population.
Head in the game
The recently aired TV commercial made by The Haas Communication Collective of Cape Town, shows a sign writer being asked to paint a shop window, but he is continually tempted and downs tools to visit the Spur Steak Ranch next door. Consequently, he writes “Steak’s Toys” on the shop window instead of “Steve’s Toys”.
Executive chairman, Allen Ambor, says, “The success of the commercial rests as much on its creative execution as on the implicit recognition by the public across a broad income spectrum, that the food, prices and atmosphere at The Spur are extremely inviting. The sign writer’s appetite resonates with their own.”
