It’s All About your Heart and Head When Running a Sports for All Franchise

Through blending social and commercial models, Sport For All is a profitable, self-sustaining franchise accessible to many prospective franchisees, and has few business competitors.

It’s All About your Heart and Head When Running a Sports for All Franchise

Sport for All was founded in 1997 in Kwa-Zulu Natal as an NGO by Zee Cele and Warren Bond. In 2004 it was converted to South Africa’s first social franchise in which the methods of commercial franchising are used to achieve social goals through sport – specifically child development, youth employment and healthy lifestyles for all family members.

Franchisee selection criteria

The ideal Sport For All franchisee is equal parts heart and mind – a person who is passionate about running a profitable business which will enable them to give back to the community in which the business operates.

The candidate should also have a passion for sport and be active in the community. Franchisees will benefit from previous business experience and working with children.

Franchisee support

Franchisees go through extensive training to assist them in running their business and in picking coaches locally who are also equipped with the tools to provide quality sports and life skills training to children in the community. Two weeks of classroom training is followed by intensive on-site field training over three months.

Ongoing support in the form of regular site visits and online engagement includes business reviews, audits, advertising and staff training support. A qualified independent financial service is provided to all franchisees for book-keeping requirements and banking services (including online FNB Instant Accounting). Innovative funding solutions are available to qualifying B-BBEE candidates.

Franchisee investment

Depending on the source of financing, a franchisee can turn a profit within the first three months of business. Many franchisees currently in the system had profit gains in the first month when using B-BBEE Enterprise Development funding mechanisms. The potential turnover per month is +R30 000.

The total set-up cost includes facility build out, player management system, coaching curriculum, sports equipment, team kits and coach uniforms, marketing material, franchisee mentoring and training, licenses and commissions.
