Hashtag Go Team!

McDonald’s takes to social media to encourage Winter Olympians.

Hashtag Go Team!

A social media campaign by McDonald’s invited fans to send encouraging messages to Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic athletes and teams.

The social media campaign connected fans from around the world with athletes, allowing supporters to send personalised messages and good luck wishes using the hashtag #CheersToSochi on Twitter or by visiting www.cheerstosochi.com.

Reams of support

The wishes were shared in a special display at the Athlete’s Village in Sochi, and athletes could view and print these messages onto ribbons to wear around their wrists. Athletes even tweeted their appreciation back to fans.

“McDonald’s takes great pride in our 38-year partnership with the Games and share in the passion to bring the world together,” says Steve Easterbrook, global chief brand officer for McD’s.
