Got the T-Shirt

How a food franchise, a t-shirt and free food is winning fans.

Got the T-Shirt

For many brands, by the time consumers are wearing their fashion, a lot of the leg work has been done in terms of securing fans. But what if you start with the t-shirt in order to win the fans? That’s what American casual dining franchise Woody’s Bar-B-Q has done in their latest marketing campaign – The Forever Shirt.

Be the brand and get rewarded

The Forever Shirt can be bought online for $29,95 with free shipping, and the wearer is then entitled to a 20% discount for themselves and a party of up to four whenever they wear it to the restaurant, for the life of the shirt. Don’t worry, the shirt isn’t a cheapie that falls apart after the first wash either, it’s a Nike brand golf shirt with “Woody’s Bar-B-Q Forever Shirt” logo on the front.

Tammy Poudrier, director of marketing for the barbeque franchise chain, says, “We’re very excited about this promotion – the brainchild of our very own CFO, John Zitello. We’re accustomed to raising the bar when it comes to the creation of authentic Southern barbeque, but now we’re making a daring move into the fashion world.

In all seriousness, we believe the Forever Shirt is a wonderful way for our fans – many of whom have been with us since we first opened our doors over 30 years ago – to show their love of Woody’s Bar-B-Q with pride and receive a great discount for the life of their shirt at the same time.” And of course it’s free marketing for the brand too.
